Bernard David Arthur Greig

1965-1970 Controller and Auditor-General. The eleventh Auditor-General of New Zealand, Bernard David Arthur Greig, served as Controller and Auditor-General from 1965 to 1970.

Bernard “Bernie” Greig worked for the Treasury before becoming Auditor-General. He was noted for steering the Office away from “bean-counting”. He loved tramping and was a life member of the Tararua Tramping Club.

The CBE after his name means that Bernard Greig was a Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire.
